Happy Birthday, Slightly-Less-Little Liebchen

Cliche: I can’t believe my baby is TWO! And it feels like we’ve had her forever. Contradictory feelings. Both true.

She’s a spitfire and a sweetpea. She talks nonstop. She pretends to do work calls, to shop at the wine store, and to care for an ever increasing stable of babies (who do an awful lot of pooping). She herself poops in the potty more often than not, and has very strong opinions about her outfits. She plays jumpy-jumpy, hide and seek, and trains. Her favorite songs are from Thomas and Friends, and she loves to sing them and ask her family to sing them, too. She has the uncanny ability to get what she wants nearly all of the time. She adores bacon, ice cream, nuts, cookies, apples, berries, yogurt, and chocolate milk. She loves to snuggle with mommy, play with daddy, and thinks the sun rises and sets with her brother. She knows just how to make us laugh and is starting to figure out how to make us crazy. She completed our family, and we love and enjoy her more than words can express.

She was born with that glorious dent in her smooshy nose. When people asked whom she looked like, I said Manuel, my dad's late best friend, a Spaniard with a fabulous side-swept nose.

At one she was cruising but not yet walking, and just finding her words. She'd already found her opinions, however, which sometimes made her grumpy when she couldn't share them with everyone. That's no longer a problem.

One of her favorite words right now is "Wow!" She said it when we arrived at the top of the Empire State Building. And now she's two. Wow, indeed.
